Sara Lisa Ørstavik

Founder and Chef

UN-humanitarian worker by day, and obsessive cook by night. She grew up in Belgium, Germany, and Norway to a Norwegian father and Italian mother. Her passion for food has come from both sides of her family: her Italian great-grandparents owned a specialty food store in Pavía and made their own salumi, over a hundred years ago. Her mother has always dreamed of opening a restaurant and wowed her dinner guests with generous plates of traditional northern Italian fare on cold Norwegian evenings. Her Norwegian grandfather cooked with gusto for a family of eight: Norwegian specialties with Mediterranean influence from his student days. Sara´s father loves to experiment with exotic spices and cooks up a Christmas dinner worthy of the King.

In BogotaPopUps Sara showcases some of her best recipes passed down from her family, new creations dreamed up on sunny days, and recipes picked up along her travels, from the Tibetan Plateau, to Dhaka, Kathmandu, Lilongwe, Accra, Rome, Paris, London, New York, Havana, Miami, and of course: Bogota.

Andres Lizcano Rodriguez

Founder

Mathematician, aspiring writer, and policy wonk. Andrés has been on the road since he was two years old: he was born in Cali but grew up in Wörth am Rhein, a small German town by the French border. He subsequently spent periods of his life learning French in Montpellier, studying microfinance at the Grameen Bank in Dhaka, writing for a Kenyan newspaper in Nairobi, and supporting the Libyan elections from New York. He recently moved back to Bogotá to take part in a Mission which is creating the country’s rural policy for the next 20 years.

His travels, which have taken him to Nepal, Morrocco, Tunisia, Paris, Slovakia, Bolivia, and many other places have fueled his desire for meeting new people. He has couchsurfed and hitchhiked and everywhere he’s been amazed by the human beings that have welcomed him.  This has made him a believer in the kindness of strangers inspired him to open his house to craft the BogotáPopUp experience.
