Buffet-style brunch
prepared by Sara Lisa
Atelier of the artist, Santa Ana
The artist:
Gèrard Gomez was born in France in 1959. As an only child from French-Italian mother and Spanish father, Gomez grew up nurtured by strong Mediterranean roots. In 1989 life drove him into an important direction with the humanitarian organization Doctors without Borders. Since 2012 he is the head of the OCHA Colombia office and lives in Bogota with his family.
His wife Anne-Cecile gave him a painting set for his 40-th birthday. That was the initiation of an artist and the beginning of a self-taught adventure. For Gérard, painting is a privileged moment of solitude where he is guided by his interior and not by formal techniques. To paint allows him to express his feelings in absolute freedom. For him to paint is like opening a door. It does not pretend to lecture or to send a static message; it is just canvas and color for the eyes to respond.
